  • Banyuwangi, East Java

The first list of cities with the lowest living costs in Indonesia is Banyuwangi, East Java. The monthly cost of living for one family in Banyuwangi is estimated to be less than 3.1 million IDR. With the natural environment and various culinary options, living costs for students and workers in Banyuwangi are as low as IDR 800,000 per month!

  • Yogyakarta, DIY

Famous for being a student-friendly city, Yogyakarta is the second cheapest city in Indonesia. This is because in 2020 DIY (Yogyakarta Special Region) is the province with the lowest UMP (Provincial Minimum Wage) in Indonesia. This also impacts the food prices, which you can find at below 10 thousand rupiahs per serving, and rental houses that will cost you from IDR 300,000 to IDR 700,000 a month.
