Cover plumbing leak with silicone putty

Drain pipes need to be checked periodically for leaks to avoid becoming a hiding place for cockroaches. If there is a leak, we can seal all the gaps with a solid cement mixture with silicone putty. Do not let the small drain become a shortcut for cockroaches to enter and contaminate our bathroom.

Use peppermint oil or mouthwash

Do not want to use a spray with toxic chemicals? Try using peppermint oil or mouthwash solution! Cockroaches are not a fan of the pungent smell of mint. In addition, these two ingredients can act as natural insecticides to make cockroaches get drunk and eventually kill them. The trick is easy: dissolve peppermint oil or mouthwash with water and spray it in various parts of the house.

Take advantage of bay leaves

Besides the minty smell, bay leaves are also a proven ingredient to get rid of cockroaches because of their intense aroma. Cut the bay leaf into small pieces and place it in the corner of the house or crevice where the cockroach hides and enjoy your cockroach-free bathroom.

Make traps with coffee and oil

Did you know that cockroaches love the smell of coffee? Use an old plastic bottle to hold coffee mixed with water or oil as a trap. Cockroaches will crawl into the bottle and look for the source of the coffee scent, they will not be able to climb back up after being trapped in the water or oil.

Use baking soda

Not only beneficial in making cakes, but baking soda is also a way to get rid of cockroaches in the bathroom. Mix baking soda and sugar in equal proportions and then sprinkle a little at a time where cockroaches often pass.

Use camphor or detergent

If the natural way is ineffective, we can also put detergent or camphor near the water line. In addition to mothballs, the detergent spray will also make cockroaches die. But be careful, avoid putting camphor or spraying detergent solution near food or food cabinets to keep your family from being poisoned.

Increase ventilation in the bathroom

Pests and cockroaches love to stay in damp places. If all of the methods above are not effective enough, maybe we should renovate the bathroom by adding ventilation or an exhaust fan, which can draw out the moisture and keep the bathroom dry even after use.
